  1. Condensation on a cold start (normal if it clears within a minute or two)
  2. Coolant leaking into the engine (liquid-cooled bikes): thick, sweet-smelling smoke that does not clear
  3. Oil reaching the combustion chamber (often looks bluish-white)

  • Watch whether the smoke stops once the engine is warm
  • On liquid-cooled bikes, check the coolant level in the reservoir when cold
  • Check the engine-oil level on the dipstick or sight glass
